Medical Advisor Multiple Myeloma

Location: Zug, Switzerland

Contract: full time

Pay Grade : 26

The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:

  • Acts as a scientific expert (internally and externally) with deep knowledge of the Therapeutic Area (TA), treatment trends incl. unmet medical needs, scientific insights and clinical studies to maximize company product value through high quality scientific knowledge management
  • Accountable for planning, designing and executing the Medical Affairs Plan, including the local parts of the overall study planning process (IEGP)
  • Contributes to the Country Value Team (CVT) and Local Action Team (LAT) by sharing medical knowledge and insights from the field with the cross-functional team and contributing to achieving CVT strategy and aligned goals
  • Occupies a central role in medical affairs liaising with MSL’s, Medical Manager, Medical Lead and the EMEA medical affairs functional network
  • Has an internal focus with the expectation that at least 20% of working time is spend in interactions with Leading Specialists

Other features of the job:

Scientific knowledge:

  • Acts as a scientific expert and actively participates in international/national congresses, medical education events or comparable programs to continuously improve both scientific and practical knowledge around product and disease areas and to identify evolving scientific concepts

External stakeholder management:

  • Close collaboration with key Leading Specialists to identify customer needs and based on that tailoring MAF activities such as round tables, ad boards, medical education activities or related medical projects
  • Has an oversight over all research-centers and key researchers

Medical Affairs Plan:

  • Accountable for the planning, coordination and execution of the Medical Affairs Plan incl. monitoring of the medical budget
  • Accountable for organizing MESC (Medical Education Steering Committee)-meetings to identify medical education needs, tailoring the content of medical education programs based on the MESC-feedback and finally executing the medical education activities according to the MAF-plan

Internal stakeholder management:

  • Contributes to the CVT and LAT by providing medical expertise, disease area & home country market insights and by leading medical programs
  • Contributes to the creation of promotional material and is accountable for reviewing promotional material
  • Accountable for creating content for scientific presentations and giving the medical training to MSLs, Medical Heads, Sales colleagues and other employees
  • Responds to complex scientific customer requests, by co-creating responses with the medical information team
  • Covers the role of a local study responsible scientist and the local study responsible physician when delegated to this role and contributes to study protocols and early access programs
  • Contributes to the development of regulatory and Market access strategy and to its execution
  • Anticipats local data needs for bringing innovative products to the market together with market access colleagues and shapes regional IEGP process to accommodate needs

Qualifications

We would love to hear from YOU, if you have:

  • Scientific degree: Medical Doctor, Pharmaceutical or Natural Science University degree (with MD/PhD being an additional asset)
  • Deep knowledge of the multiple myeloma therapeutic area, strength in research and interpretation of medical data
  • Product (pre-)launch experience considered an advantage
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ relevant work experience
  • Scientific acumen and communication skills in order to be accepted by Leading Specialists in peer-to-peer relationship
  • Strong knowledge of Pharma industry and Health Care Environment
  • Fluency in English and German required, French is considered an advantage
  • High level of strategic thinking: Translating latest science and developments in the local health care environment into MAF strategy and tactics
  • Strong communication skills and, ability to hold scientific/medical discussions with HCP’s on a peer-to-peer level, as well as business discussions with internal stakeholders/functions
  • Ability to connect and build professional working relationships with internal business stakeholders/functions
  • Understanding of scientific research, clinical trial design/conduct and interpretation of medical/scientific data (scientific acumen), and ability to translate this into information to inform strategy as well as into designing medical affairs activities
  • Ability to understand and map clinical practice and resulting patient pathways (clinical acumen)
  • Ability to link medical/scientific information with clinical practice in order to create insights and inform medical affairs/CVT strategy (strategic acumen)
  • Ability to navigate in a matrix organisation and the skill set to collaborate in a highly complex and rapidly changing environment
